SCAD – Collaborative Learning Center (Fahm Hall)

Built in 1970, this 13,562-square-foot facility was originally the home of Ivan Allen office supply and interior design firm. Acquired by SCAD in 2001 and renovated in 2010, Fahm Hall now houses the jewelry department and as well as new SCADlab, which offers students 3-D printers and large-format photo printers for special projects and regular use.  The conversion consisted of transitions to the existing facility into classrooms, meeting spaces, studios, and an art gallery and Collaborative Learning Center that acts as a catalyst for joint ventures between the university and local businesses. Special consideration was taken not to disturb current occupants during the impressive 30-day construction process.
